I-DAF

Intelligent distillery effluent dewatering

Removing solids, oil and heavy metals from your foul effluent is an integral part of the distillery operations process. Getting it wrong means, you need greater storage capacity, bigger de-watering equipment, and more expensive chemicals to re-process filtrate water.

Get it right, on the other hand, and you remove more solids and contaminants first time around. Not only do you save money on wasted chemicals, but you also mitigate their impact on the surrounding environment.

Dissolved air flotation (DAF) is nothing new. In fact, DAF is an established, renowned, economical and efficient technology for treating wastewater containing elevated levels of solids or oils. Our Intelligent DAF (I-DAF) system takes that tried and tested technology to the next level. It is also one of the most energy efficient systems on the planet today.

I-DAF offers a 25% reduction in chemicals in comparison to traditional DAF systems.

What’s in it for you and the planet?

  • Maximum removal of various contaminants at source
  • Continuous visibility of treatment
  • Optimised green chemical usage
  • Reduction in carbon inefficiencies
  • Treated water for reuse as cooling water or tank washing operations

How does I-DAF technology work?

  • I-DAF utilises an open-top reaction tank, so that the chemical treatment process is always visible.
  • Plant based chemicals are injected into the effluent stream to separate the contaminants from the foul effluent.
  • The system also contains pioneering microbubble generators, producing 100% dissolved air, to enhance the floatation of contaminants to the surface.
  • Treated effluent can be discharged to foul sewer/watercourse, adhering to discharge legislation.
